Its work in approving products covers boilers, cookers, open fires and stoves and room-heaters. It also lists in its Official Guide, factory made chimneys and carbon monoxide detectors and alarms suitable for use with solid fuel.

OFTEC is the Oil Firing Technical Association and is the technical and marketing body for the oil firing industry in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.  OFTEC is the leading organisation recognised by Governments, manufacturers, distributors and consumers for the oil-firing industry. The aim of OFTEC Training and Registration System is to provide Technicians with Government recognised professional status and competency.
